Photographer Knox Kronenberg was looking to create an immersive website experience to showcase and sell his work. He uses the power of black and white photography to capture the essence of the old world meeting the new, as well as the unique beauty of western life. He needed a website to feel unique and expensive, just like his photography. Our design and development teams were up for the challenge. The result was an award-winning website that is one of our favorites.
Project Scope
An Immersive Experience
Knox’s photographs are black and white, so he wanted the site to match that. Keeping the color minimal and fonts simple, allowed the photography to really stand out. We explored unique animations that put our development skills to the test. An infinite scroll on the home page allows the user to explore an endless gallery of stunning photography in a way that is both purposeful and valuable.
Strategic Animation
Incorporating subtle animation not only adds visual interest, but it draws the eye to important pieces of information. We are always strategic when incorporating animation so it adds to the user experience, rather than disrupting it.
For Knox’s site, we added spinning text circles to offer supplemental direction like ‘scroll for more’, background color transitions to break up content, image tilts on hover to signify a link, and a fun shutter animation for loading pages that gave a simple nod to the art of photography.
A Seamless
Vision
What works well on desktop does not always work well on mobile, and vice versa. It’s important to create a seamless experience across any device, and when it comes to innovative design and animation, that is not always an easy task. Lucky for us, we have a team of highly-skilled developers that worked their magic to ensure the website was just as impactful, no matter the device.
