Adapting to Market Trends is Key to Business Survival
In a cultural and economic landscape that’s ever-changing, adaptability is crucial for your business to survive. From changing customer behaviors to new technologies, it’s essential to stay on top of market trends and adapt to those that align with your business.
So, where do you start? Here are a few strategies we recommend:
1. Foster Flexibility and Creative Thinking
Before you can quickly pivot and adjust your sales and marketing tactics or integrate new technology, your company must be set up to do so. This starts from the top down, by creating a positive work environment where learning, development, and growth are encouraged, and innovation is rewarded.
This also means hiring forward-thinking individuals—either internally or external partnerships—who are eager to explore new ways of working and willing to change course when something isn’t successful.
Without an open mindset and a willingness to embrace change, your business is on a path towards failure.
2. Know Your Audience
Often, as the economy and technologies change, so does your audience. Your target audience should be the core focus of your brand, and the driving force behind any changes you decide to implement. Staying on top of what’s trending doesn’t necessarily mean making a change. Not all market trends will make sense for your business. You must first understand your audience and make sure any changes align with their needs.
Make it a priority to invest in research to understand your target audience as it is today. Then, use those valuable insights to help you adapt and make decisions that benefit your brand.
3. Stay Current with Technology
Technology is constantly evolving, and it’s essential to keep up—not only to ensure your operations are efficient and your products are innovative, but to stay connected with your audience as they embrace new technologies and their needs shift.
Adapting to AI
The basis for most new technology these days stems from AI, or artificial intelligence. What started as buzz, within a few short years, has become reality. AI is no longer a future concept—it has rapidly transformed how businesses operate, how people work, and how technology evolves. It is becoming the foundation of future digital systems.
Of course, with rapid change comes uncertainty. We are all continuing to learn as it evolves—but the truth of the matter is that if you don’t invest in understanding it and adapt with it, you are sure to be left behind.
Implementing AI Tools
Many companies, including several of our clients, have made AI learning and integration their primary objective as it continues to transform the way they connect with their audience.
Some of the ways we have helped our clients integrate AI technology into their websites include:
- AI automated testing that catches potential bugs and makes sure the site is working properly
- AI automated accessibility testing
Adding AI/AEO Infrastructure
But AI isn’t simply a tool to automate repetitive tasks or improve customer experience. It impacts the way people interact—which goes back to knowing your audience. For example, the way people look for products and services has shifted. They now use voice assistants, navigation apps, or streaming services which all rely on AI behind-the-scenes. Even when they use Google search, they get an AI overview at the top of the page.
Because of this, we recommend updating your website to not only have a solid SEO foundation in place, but also adding a layer of IA/AEO infrastructure to ensure you are still being found.
Building sites with AI/AEO infrastructure involves technical work ‘under the hood’—schema markup, llms.txt, crawler access verification, site speed and mobile usability, proper image alt text, structured captions, Google Business Profile setup, etc., to make sure AI-systems can can read and cite your site
We won’t go further into the weeds here, but if adding a layer of AI-specific infrastructure is something you haven’t done, we recommend hiring a marketing agency (we know of a good one ;)) with knowledgeable developers to evaluate your website and provide professional technical guidance to help get things up to speed.
Human and AI-friendly Content
Another thing you can do that requires less technical experience, is making sure your site content is written in a way that is human. This means changing your website copy from overly branded marketing fluff to more direct language that uses specific detail. AI-systems don’t extract or cite generic sales language and humans won’t believe it.
Adding FAQs throughout your website is also a great way to incorporate AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) friendly copy. Because it’s formatted in the question and answer style people use when searching with voice assistants—such as, ‘Hey Google, which local restaurants have an outdoor patio?’, it tends to get more visibility in AI-powered search results.

Like it or hate it, AI isn’t going away and it will likely only become more integrated into our daily lives. Along with everyone else, we are continually exploring and working to understand it so we can improve our internal operations, and provide the best possible guidance for our clients.
